Anyone selling a statistic should expect to be checked. So each set of assessments publishes its source, the exact window it covers, what was left out and why, and the queries to run yourself. Where a finding rests on an inference rather than a count, it says so. And if a figure moves outside the range we agreed with a client, we tell them rather than quietly changing the page.
